Updating Wi-Fi Passwords on your Smartphone

[London, UK]  If you're aware of the security risks an unsecured Wi-Fi connection presents, you'll already ensure that your home network is WPA2-enabled and protected with a complex and somewhat random password. Doing this is good practice when it comes to your data and network security.
However, another great security measure is to change your password at regular intervals. This will ensure that if anyone does get hold of your password the access they have will be limited until the next time you update your details. The downside is that you'll need to change the Wi-Fi password on any connected devices. Unfortunately the major mobile platforms require you to remove and re-add trusted networks. It's not too complicated though, and to do so on your selected device, follow the relevant steps below:

iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

For any iOS device Head to 'Settings > Wi-Fi' and find your network from the list of networks the device finds within its range. Once you find your network, tap the arrow in the blue circle on the right. This opens up the details page for that network. From this page you can choose 'Forget This Network'. You can now reconnect with the new password. Select the 'Wi-Fi' arrow button at the top left of the screen to go back to the list of available networks. Select your network again and you will be asked for the password. Enter the new one.

Android

Here again you will need to remove the network and reconnect to it with new details. To do this select 'Wi-Fi' from the drag down connections menu available from the top-right of the display. Alternatively, simply navigate to your 'Settings' app and select 'Wi-Fi'. Once here, you will see the list of available networks. Select the necessary network connection and then select 'Forget'. Then go back to the Wi-Fi network screen and select your network. You can now enter the new password and reconnect.

Windows Phone 7/8

From the Windows Phone home screen either scroll down to your 'Settings' tile or swipe right to the listed apps on your device. Scroll down and select 'Settings'. From here select 'Wi-Fi'. With the listed available networks, find yours and tap and hold it until a menu drops down with options to 'Edit' or 'Delete'. Select 'Delete'. Once removed the network should re-appear immediately in your list. If it doesn't, try swiping the 'Wi-Fi' slider to off. Wait a little while and then swipe it back to the on position. Then simply select the network and enter the password.
