Setting up Speech Recognition
Go to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Speech Recognition
Firstly, click on set up microphone, and
choose the microphone type you have. The process is simple and would be
completed in a couple of minutes.
When you get your microphone settled,
take the speech tutorial by clicking on that option and learn the
commands from the computer itself. The computer will teach you various
commands, including It may take much time but this will result in your
computer to better understand you..
The thing you will need during this
process is PATIENCE, which is the key. You may need to spend
half-an-hour or so during this process. Just don't hurry and the rest
will be fine.
Now, choose train your computer to
better understand you. It is where you will be asked to say what is
written on the text, to make computer understand how you speak and your
pronounciation.
Now, you can start speech recognition and make your computer talk.
Using Speech Recognition
Once you have completed the process, you
can start using speech recognition. Remember, whenever you forget any
command, just say "What can I say?" or and Windows Speech Recognition
will open up a window that will show you all the commands. If the
command is not listed say "Show Numbers" and numbers will be shown on
every option. Then say the number and then OK.
Remember to speak clear and loud while
using speech recognition. The distance between the microphone and your
lips should be around one and a half inch.
Windows Speech Recognition will start
every time you start the computer. You can also start it manually when
needed. On starting, it will show as sleeping. Say "Start Listening" and
the computer will listen to everything you say.
